A simple plan
Three steps from here
01Draw a sound mapRead the step
Mark the ceremony, cocktail and reception locations. Note outdoor power, venue sound limits and distances between spaces. Share the map with each DJ before requesting a package.
Tip: An indoor reception rig does not automatically cover an outdoor ceremony.
02Write the cue sheetRead the step
List every moment needing an announcement or music cue, and name who gives the final go-ahead. Ask the DJ how they coordinate with the officiant, planner and photographer.
- What microphone is used for vows and toasts?
- Who starts processional music and when?
- Who makes introductions if the DJ is moving equipment?
03Compare equipment and laborRead the step
Request the equipment list, named DJ, start and end times, setup access, overtime rate and backup plan. Choose the proposal that covers every space and handoff.

- Buying reception hours while assuming ceremony audio is included
- Not assigning who cues processional music
- Leaving a microphone for the officiant or speeches off the equipment list
- Comparing lighting packages without counting fixtures and setup labor
Common questions
Does a wedding DJ include ceremony sound?
Sometimes. Island Sound's published Classic package is a reception-focused example, while its Exclusive tier lists ceremony sound. Ask each DJ to price ceremony audio and any separate operator explicitly.
What does a Raleigh wedding DJ cost?
Scope varies by ceremony sound, hours, lighting and staffing. Island Sound publishes package descriptions but its page contains inconsistent price text, so request a current proposal for your date and location.
Do we need a separate MC?
Many DJs also serve as MC, but confirm the named person and the announcements they will make. A ceremony in a separate location can change staffing needs.
Sources and editorial note
Published package terms were checked in September 2026; Island Sound's page has some inconsistent legacy price text, so confirm its current proposal directly. No vendor paid for inclusion.
